I cannot say I am a wine drinker to me all wine taste the same, so I am no expert. But I do enjoy a glass or two to go with my meal, the thing that I find most interesting about wine is the bottle. The wine bottle itself fascinates me, especially the punt of the wine bottle. The distortion from inside the wine bottle and the shapes it produces as so many fantastic effects with different lights and angles. And after a few glasses of wine everything just looks even more incredible.
Trying to capture the effect turned out to be a lot more complicated than it should have been. The 'technical' process had me walking around like a drunken pirate with a bottle on one eye in one hand and a camera in the other. And once I saw an effect I liked and CLICK, I aimed the camera in front of the wine bottle and hoped they turned out well. Unfortunately, most of them did, not but for the ones that did I manage to capture some unique shots.
The Apple Tree
My first one was originally going to be called Apple (boring, I know) mostly because of the vibrant apple green but my girlfriend thought it looked more like an abstract forest because of the tree-like distortion from the punt and the misty blurry effect that gives it an eerie look and feel so The Apple Forest it became.
The second shot I managed to take; I've dubbed 'Saturn’s Rings’, it reminded me of an old photo of Saturn and its Rings or even an Ultrasound scan, and to give it an additional effect I added light leak to provide it with a more rustic look.
The original photo is the yellow bottle. Adding the red and green bottles with a rainbow gradient gave it a more visually pleasing and I think it all blended well giving an acid trip effect.
